There’s a reason Amish bakeries sell out of this before noon — thick cinnamon-sugar swirls through soft bread with plump raisins throughout.
Ingredients
- Soft enriched bread dough
- Raisins, soaked until plump
- Butter, cinnamon, and sugar, for the filling
- Water, for brushing
Method
- Roll the risen dough flat and brush with water — this prevents the cinnamon swirl from separating during baking.
- Spread with a thick layer of butter, cinnamon, and sugar, then scatter raisins across it.
- Roll tightly, place in a loaf pan, and proof until doubled.
- Bake until golden.
Toast a thick slice until the edges caramelize, and butter melts into golden rivers — proof breakfast can be spiritual.
